The Health Education Department at UMD Health Services is committed to keeping you in the know, not only to support your health and wellbeing during college, but to help you thrive beyond your college years. We aim to provide you with resources, information, opportunities for involvement, and inspiration, that can assist you in making healthy lifestyle choices; and help you achieve balance with your health, relationships, environment, sense of purpose, security and safety, and community.  Check our calendar of events for current programs, or get professional development experience as an intern or as a member of one of our student groups.  We look forward to working with you!

The Health Education staff at UMD Health Services is here to serve you as a health education resource professional and wellness programming specialist.

Lauretta M. Perry, MLS – Prevention and Wellbeing Program Coordinator

Lauretta provides one-on-one alcohol and drug consultations with students, and presents on alcohol and cannabis harm reduction at UMD and in the community.  Lauretta is the staff adviser to the Peer Educators, Chair of the Alcohol and Drug Advisory Committee (ADAC), and member of the Sexual Violence Response Team.  For more information, please contact Lauretta @ [email protected], (218) 726-7058.

Health Education Intern

The Health Education Department at UMD Health Services appreciates the opportunity to work with student interns. Interns have the opportunity to to design, market, implement and evaluate a program or campaign that supports the mission of Health Services. We ask that students come prepared with a proposal for the vision of their internship. Excellent candidates for this internship are students who are self-starters, creative and can manage a project independently. Involvement with our Peer Health Educators (PHE).

Peer Health Educators (PHE) is a student organization working to promote healthy lifestyle choices, with their main focus being on healthy relationships, sexual health, bystander intervention and alcohol and cannabis harm reduction.
