Well Ride is a medical transport service for UMD students with COVID concerns that will assist in transport to the Oakland A apartments (isolation or quarantine) or to the hospital, pharmacy or other medical related trips. Their phone number is 218-409-RIDE (7433).  Any UMD student residing in on-campus isolation or quarantine can call to set up rides and the student should tell the driver to bill the cost of the rides to UMD.

UMD Health Services is a comprehensive health and wellness facility designed to meet the health care needs of today's college students. You can come to our clinic right here on campus for medical services you might otherwise go to your family practice clinic for at home. In addition to medical services, we offer free and confidential counseling appointments.  We also provide educational outreach  and wellness programs. The mission of our clinic and professional staff is to help students develop healthy personal lifestyles and to provide the services necessary to support academic success.

What services are available right now, during the pandemic?

During the pandemic our operations may have a changed a bit, but we continue to remain open. No walk in appointments are being accepted at this time.  You must call Health Services to discuss your concerns/needs before entering the clinic.  

Medical Appointments

We ask you to call our office at 218-726-8155 to discuss services being offered currently. In many cases, appointments may be able to be addressed over the phone with a Health Services provider.   

If you are experiencing cough, fever or shortness of breath, have traveled internationally or domestically, or have been exposed to someone with known or suspected COVID-19, it is important that you call Health Services at 218-726-8155 prior to arriving at the clinic. When you come into the clinic, you will use the front door.  

Counseling Appointments

We are offering individual therapy, consultation and case management services. To schedule a time to meet with one of our counselors please call 218-726-7913 to get set up for a video (Zoom) or telephone session with one of the counseling staff.

We will also be offering Let's Talk drop-in consultations, grief support groups, and self-care opportunities, virtually.  This begins Monday, September 13th, 2021 through April 29th, 2022.  This service is not offered during winter and spring break, finals week and over the summer.

What services are offered at UMD Health Services during regular operations? 

Physicians, nurse practitioners, and registered nurses are available for medical appointments.  If you are taking 6+ credits, your medical consultations are free of charge (no co-pay!).  We do bill insurance for tests and procedures to include lab screenings, x-rays, and medical procedures.

UMD Health Services also provides free and confidential counseling, drop-in Consultations ("Let's Talk") and grief support groups.

Health education and wellness programs are provided for students of the UMD campus community.  You can view our  current events on our News & Events page.  UMD Health Services supports professional health education internships; student graphic artist employment; and active student groups that make an impact on the UMD campus through peer health education.
