I believe counseling is a space to explore, grow and heal. I understand that counseling may be something you think about for weeks, months or even years before reaching out. When you do, it is important to me to create a non-judgemental space where you feel heard; a space where you can reflect on what you need from our time together and feel supported as you work through change. I recognize the difficulty in sharing with someone you’ve just met, and feel honored to hold space for you. May you find comfort in knowing you aren’t alone on this college journey.
I consider myself a generalist practitioner and often use person-centered and solution-focused approaches to help students achieve what they are looking for in counseling. Students have worked with me on a wide variety of concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, adjustment to college, relationship concerns or dealing with other life stressors. I have received training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT),Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT) and art-based therapies.
Not only am I available to meet with you for counseling, I also do Case Management with students to help connect them with resources both on and off campus. Moving to a new community and transitioning to college can be overwhelming and confusing; you aren’t alone! If you need help navigating complex UMD structures/processes or connecting with resources, please reach out! I'd love to meet you and provide support during this time of your life.
