If You Test Positive for COVID-19:

Isolation guidelines updated May 11, 2023

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends the following:

When a student tests positive for COVID-19, they will be instructed by Health Services, housing staff, or Public Health Officials to isolate to reduce the risk of infecting others.

Individuals will need to isolate for 5 days from the date symptoms began, have not had a fever for at least 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medications) and their symptoms must be improved before their isolation can end.

Individuals will need to isolate for 5 days from the date of a positive test for those who are infected with Covid-19, but remain asymptomatic.

For further information on isolation, please visit the CDC isolation calculator.

Mask Recommendations

Please follow the links for the CDC and MDH mask recommendations based on the applicable CDC COVID-19 community level in your area and the individual COVID-19 risks for you and others around you. While MDH encourages all Minnesotans to follow these minimum precautions, it is important to know that you may always choose to wear a mask if it makes you feel safer, regardless of current risk factors or the CDC COVID-19 community level.
